How to Sync a Wireless PS3 Controller

The Sony PlayStation 3 allows games to use wireless controllers. Unlike the Nintendo Wii controllers, these connect to the system via Bluetooth so the controller does not need to point at it. However, if you have one (or several) Wireless Controller For Sony PS3, you need to sync them up with the gaming system; otherwise the PlayStation isn't going to recognize the device and allow you to use it.

  1. Connect the USB cable (provided with the controller) into the data USB port on the top of the controller. Insert the other end of the controller into one of the two USB ports on the front of the system.

  2. Power on the television and the Sony PlayStation 3. You are going to see a series of lights flicker on the top of the wireless controller.

  3. Press the PS3 button in the middle of the controller. This tells the gaming system it is connected. A single light appears on the controller.

  4. Remove the gaming controller from the PS3. You can now use it wireless. It is also possible to remove the USB cable from the PlayStation if it is blocking your field of view.

One of the most useful features of the PlayStation 3 video game console is its ability to connect to your home network and home computer. However, many people do not have a router in their home and rely on either a computer directly connected to a modem or have no Internet connection. Fortunately, the PS3 has to capability to connect directly to your laptop. This will allow you to utilize the media server functionality of the PS3 without having a router.

Instructions

  1. Turn on your PC and your PS3.

  2. Connect one end of the Ethernet crossover cable to your PC.

  3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet crossover cable to your PS3.

  4. Navigate to the "Network Connections" option on your computer.

  5. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties."

  6. Select the TCP/IP option and click "Properties".

  7. Manually set the IP address to 192.168.1.1 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

  8. Navigate to the "Settings" option on your PS3 using the Cross Media Bar.

  9. Scroll to the "Network Settings" option and press the "X" button on your controller.

  10. Select the "Internet Connection Settings" option.

  11. Select the "Custom" option.

  12. Choose the "Wired Connection" option.

  13. Scroll to the "IP Adress Setting" menu and select the "Manual" option.

  14. Specify the IP Address as "192.168.1.2" and the subnet mask as "255.255.255.0."

  15. Continue scrolling to the right until you come to a screen that gives you the option to "Press the X button to save settings."

  16. Press the "X" button to confirm your network settings.
