3D Screen

The Nintendo 3DS system opens up a whole new world of eye-popping gameplay possibilities. The stereoscopic 3D display of the upper screen gives objects within the game world a feeling of space and depth that extends far into the back of the screen. It becomes easier to see the position of characters and obstacles in the world, making many game experiences even more intuitive for all types of players.

3D Depth Slider

A built-in 3D Depth Slider allows you to immediately adjust the intensity of the 3D settings on the Nintendo 3DS system to your liking. The 3D effect can also be turned down completely—all Nintendo 3DS games and applications can be played in 2D, and look better than any Nintendo handheld before it.

Motion Sensor & Gyro Sensor
 Portable play control reaches a new level with these amazing features, allowing for new & unique gameplay mechanics. A built-in motion sensor and gyro sensor can react to the motion and tilt of the system, so whether players are twisting their systems side to side or moving them up and down, their motion-compatible Nintendo 3DS games respond instantly.

 Two screens

Game graphics have never looked better on a Nintendo handheld system, thanks to the two screens of the Nintendo 3DS system.
A widescreen display on the top screen shows 800x240 pixel resolution, allocating 400 pixels for each eye to create the 3D effect.
The bottom LCD touch screen operates at a resolution of 320x240—with both screens capable of displaying a brilliant 16.77 million colors.

Analog Control


 With the Circle Pad, located above the + Control Pad, Nintendo 3DS offers full analog control in 3D game worlds. Combined with the touch screen, traditional buttons, camera and microphone input, and advanced motion control of the Motion Sensor and Gyro Sensor, the potential is extraordinary.

The Nintendo 3DS system uses its two outer cameras to see the world in 3D, much like the human eye, allowing for the creation of 3D photos—and a similar 3D effect to that seen in Nintendo 3DS games.

The adjustable Nintendo 3DS Stylus takes the idea of touch control to a new and even more user-friendly level. Once removed from the holder, the stylus length can be adjusted to your liking with a simple push or pull. Now anyone can achieve the optimum level of comfort while playing games that use the stylus.

 

Charging Cradle 

Dock your Nintendo 3DS system whenever you are not using it in the included Charging Cradle to keep it powered. You can then leave the system on in Sleep Mode while charging, so that it can communicate via the SpotPass feature at any time of day or night.

 

2GB SD Memory Card Included 

Every Nintendo 3DS system comes packed with a 2GB SD Memory Card. You can use this SD Memory Card to store your 3D photos, and sound recordings created on the Nintendo 3DS system, and music* from your PC. You can also use it to store games downloaded from the Nintendo eShop. The Nintendo 3DS system has SDHC card compatibility to increase your storage space even further.

Its that time of the year to reassess what games have released so far and to pick the top titles for the PlayStation 3. The PS3 has been out for three years and nine months in Europe and nearly four years in the U.S. accumulating a solid collection of games. Fallout 3 – is the game that really pushed action RPGs to the forefront. Bethesda got it into the limelight with Oblivion, but Fallout 3 took the genre home.
Final Fantasy XIII – the highly anticipated RPG arrived with a bang, offering beautiful cinematics and an engrossing story. This title is a must for fans of Japanese RPGs.
Valkyria Chronicles – this title single handedly proved that SRPGs can be made for the casual player. Hands down, this is the best strategic RPG of this generation.
Assassin’s Creed II – this sequel succeeded where the first game failed by improving almost every aspect of the game. This piece of history is a must play.
inFamous – Sucker Punch’s new IP sizzles with super powered heroes and villains in this impressive open world sandbox game.
Batman: Arkham Asylum – as the first comic book video game to critically succeed, this is definitely a must play game.
WipEout HD (Fury) – a mainstay from the PSOne era, this futuristic take on anti-gravity racing is the best in its class.
FIFA Soccer 10 – this is the only soccer (or football) game that sells 3 million plus consistently. 3 million people can’t all be wrong?

Dead Space – is a survival horror action game that will truly scare you out of your skin.
Dragon Age: Origins – the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate lives up to expectations in this epic RPG of massive proportions.
PixelJunk Eden – this physics driven game challenges you to master gravity. With co-op support, this title offers countless hours of brain numbing fun.
MAG – the era of MMOFPS is here. MAG is the first FPS to support up to 256 players in a team based virtual war. Get promoted to OIC position and lead an army of 128 real players.
Super Stardust – considered to be one of the best twin thumb shooters of this generation.
MotorStorm – a motor racing game with the most beautiful vehicle crashes you will ever see.
Braid – this time manipulation puzzle game will bend your mind and perception of reality.
Flower – is a serene game that transcends the medium and is considered art by many.

Conclusion:
There are just too many games to list and making this list was extremely difficult. There were titles we wanted to squeeze in like Warhawk and Siren: Blood Curse (honorable mentions), but in the end some trimming had to be done. If you are a PS3 owner, or planning on picking one up for the holidays, then these are the games you should definitely consider playing.

Is the prototype PS3 break-apart controller practical?

Rumors about a new PS3 break-apart controller have been circulating around the Internet for quite some time now. Sony has refused to comment on such speculation, stating it is just pure rumor. A new patent that was filed by Sony may reveal that such a device does exist. However, upon looking at the patent the first question that pops into my mind is – how practical is it?
The break-apart controller is supposedly similar to that of the Wii-mote, where you can break the controller apart and end up with two separate stick like controllers. The controllers are tracked via several different methods to pin-point its exact coordinates. The controller generates an ultrasound that the PSeye’s microphone can pick up. The controller also has LED lights that the PSeye camera can also pickup.
I believe the concept is similar to this freaky video made by a Sony developer, where it looks like you are actually looking into a 3D room. The controller also has something called an Accelerometer, which can detect rotation and xyz planes. A user on NeoGaf has posted pictures of the Sony patent for the break-apart controller.

The device uses plates that can be switched out for a different face plate. The controllers can be connected on ends to form a long stick. Not only does it look like some sort of massaging device, it also looks obscene with two balls on the end of the stick. What were those crazy Sony engineers thinking?
With so many moving parts and reliance on switching out face plates, I am not so sure that this controller is practical. However, considering Sony’s desire to cater to the casual market this controller or something similar to it could conceivably come out in the near future.
On the other hand it could just be another kooky patent that never gets used, sort of like the PS3 VR gloves.

If Sony does decide to release this controller in its current patent form, it may beat out the original Xbox Duke for the ‘ugliest controller ever’ title.
